Twelve amateur bakers gather in a tent in the English countryside to prove, pipe, and occasionally panic their way through the most beloved baking competition on television. There is no cash on the line, just a cake stand and the title, which is exactly why the show feels so warm: everyone is there for the love of the bake. This is the series that launched the modern baking boom and the template every other show in the genre borrows from.
Each week runs three challenges: a Signature bake in the baker's own style, a blind Technical where everyone gets the same pared-down recipe and is ranked from worst to best, and a closing Showstopper. One baker earns Star Baker, one is eliminated, and the last baker standing in the finale takes the title.
No cash prize; the winner receives a cake stand and the title
